About...

Hi, I'm Mary S. Schulte  -  And welcome to my web site!  The Mary Schulte Art site features Galleries showing images from my original art. Consider a commissioned work, a perfect and unique gift for yourself or another! Just click the Contact page above. I specialize in pet portraits, portraits, florals especially roses, and all things nature – most done in oils. Feel free to select prints or gifts. And I'm always adding more…

Art has been my passion since I was about 3 years old, winning my first award at age 10 - a state art competition (creations to Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers").

I received a B.A. degree in Art and Education, with a classical atelier type approach including portraiture; then additional post-grad studies, emphasizing illustration and graphic design. After college I taught art for several years from K-12, plus adult ed. I've also studied art history around the world such as in Mexico, Peru, Europe/Iceland, Kuwait, Canada.

My art (and stories) have been produced in conjunction with an award-winning composer and performed by the renowned Minnesota Orchestra (twice) and well as several other Class-A orchestras nation-wide; and then also published as a children’s book ("Princess Nada and the City of Ice" - now a Kindle book). Additionally, my work has included illustrations for other book covers and interiors, magazine covers and articles. Numerous pieces have also been shown in various galleries, juried art shows and fairs, and in shops.

I've spent many years working in a variety of media beginning with oils, then acrylics, and now love  water-mixable oils. I find using detail and light adds extra character to my art. Over the years I've done lots of commissioned pieces in a variety of topics, collected all over the country and also overseas (i.e., England, Romania, other European countries, Peru, Kuwait) . Pet (oh how people love their pets!) and person portraits with realism and detail are something I really enjoy.
